DCI Renewal

The DCI Renwal course is designed to give healthcare workers the tools to defuse and de-escalate tense encounters to maximize their own safety and the safety of those around them.

 

  • Plan the safety of staff and patients when dealing with patients who may become aggressive or violent.
  • Identify behavioral signs & symptoms of escalation.
  • Define conditions conducive to development of a therapeutic relationship.
  • Discuss safety issues involved in providing a therapeutic environment.
  • Explain PA Mental Health Law as it relates to mental health admission & commitment process.
  • Explain the process of restraint/seclusion according to hospital policy, regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Utilize critical thinking in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based interventions.
  • Apply physical de-escalation techniques to optimize safety for all.
  • Explain the process of restraint/seclusion use.
  • Discuss how to respond to an active shooter event.

Successful completion of the course requires:

O Attendance at the entire class.

O Successful participation in group activities.

O Comfortable clothes, sneakers and promptness are REQUIRED.

Need a class for 6 or more students?  Let us help you organize a group class!

We provide two options for group classes with a minimum of 6 registered students:

  1. Onsite classes - We come to you!
  2. Private classes - Come to our facility! You schedule the date and time.

Replacement Cards 

Please call our office at 973-989-3213.  We will verify your information; and with payment, print and mail a duplicate card.  For BLS Healthcare Provider and Heartsaver CPR/AED and/or HeartSaver First Aid, replacement card cost is $10.00.  For ACLS and PALS replacement card cost is $15.00.
